Terms of Service

Effective May 19, 2026

These terms govern your use of Plate Up. By using the service, you agree to them. We've kept the language as plain as possible.

1. The service

Plate Up analyzes restaurant menus and produces redesign recommendations using AI. The free version includes a full analysis and a watermarked redesign. Paid tiers unlock print-ready downloads, branded exports, multi-location support, and human-reviewed designs.

2. Who can use it

You must be:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Authorized to share the menu you upload (e.g., you own or manage the restaurant, or have written permission from the owner).
  • In a country where access to Plate Up isn't prohibited by US law.

3. Your account

You don't need to create a username/password to use Plate Up. We tie your data to the email you provide. You're responsible for keeping that email secure. If someone else gets access to it, they may see your past reports.

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload menus you don't own or have permission to share.
  • Upload anything illegal, infringing, hateful, or designed to harm.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to circumvent rate limits on the service.
  • Use Plate Up to build a competing menu-analysis product.
  • Resell Plate Up output as your own design service.

We reserve the right to suspend access for any of the above.

5. Intellectual property

  • You own your menu. Uploading it to Plate Up doesn't transfer ownership. We get a limited license to process, store, and display it to you, and to use it anonymized + aggregated to improve our service.
  • You own the redesign output. Once your menu has been analyzed and (if applicable) you've paid for the unlock, the redesigned menu is yours to use however you like — including printing it, posting it online, or putting it on DoorDash.
  • We own Plate Up. The software, the brand marks, the scoring model, the knowledge base, the design templates — all ours.

6. AI-generated content

Plate Up's recommendations and redesigns are generated by large language models. AI output can be wrong or inaccurate. Always review the analysis before printing or publishing — don't blindly trust prices, ingredients, or descriptions. Plate Up isn't responsible for outcomes that result from errors in AI output.

7. Payments + refunds

  • Your Finished Menu ($97) is a one-time charge. The finished files and editor stay accessible on your account afterward.
  • Menu Performance Partner ($149/quarter) auto-renews until you cancel. Cancel anytime from your account and you keep access through the end of the paid period.
  • Concierge subscription ($499/month) auto-renews until you cancel. Same cancellation policy as Pro.
  • All sales are final. We do not offer refunds for completed one-time purchases or for past subscription periods. If a charge looks wrong, email hello@plateup.io with your order ID and we'll investigate.

8. Service availability

We aim for 99% uptime but make no formal SLA on the free or one-time Customize tiers. The Pro and Concierge tiers target 99.5% uptime. If we have a major outage we'll extend your subscription proportionally.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee specific revenue lift, ROI, or business outcomes from applying our recommendations. Menu engineering is a real discipline backed by Cornell hospitality research, but every restaurant is different and your mileage will vary. Plate Up is not financial, legal, or operational advice — it's a recommendation engine.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for anything related to Plate Up is capped at the amount you've paid us in the last 12 months (or $50, whichever is greater). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Termination

You can stop using the service at any time. Email hello@plateup.io to delete your account and data. We can suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We'll post updated terms at this URL and email anyone with an active account at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
